Learning & Development Revolution

Excellent news, that the post-16 education provision is going to have a huge boost of investment, regarding technical skills.

I'm also interested to see how the proposal for the Workforce Industry Exchange Programme operates, as part of the new Lifetime Skills guarantee by the UK government. In our new world of fast changing employment prospects, never has there been a greater need to keep on top of and adapt to a shifting work environment.

I do agree with Sarah Danzl, Head of Global Communications at Degreed, that "...classrooms aren’t the only place people learn and we know that people continue to learn new skills throughout their working lives". But things are pointing in a much better direction, in terms of the potential for access to self-improvement as well as professional development.

There has been an incremental increase of access to learning through the Higher Education sector for mature students, while FE colleges which used to champion lifelong learning have had to narrow their focus in recent years. But the general intention now seems a more positive move; to open up FE, HE and to see a more 'joined up thinking' throughout employment in a person's lifetime.

Let's keep pushing that envelope...
